Farm and small animal operations have been identified as a source of nitrogen and phosphorus in Rainbow Creek's TMDL

By properly disposing of farm animal and pet waste, the impact of nitrogen and phosphorus on Rainbow Creek will be reduced.  Other Best Management Practices (BMPs) include directing stormwater runoff around corrals and pens (to reduce the possibility of manure washing away with the stormwater) and properly storing manure and other waste.  The "Equestrian-Related Water Quality Best Management Practices" offers advice on how to properly care for the area within and surrounding the horse's corral and pasture (please click HERE to download).

More Best Management Practices can be found in the Rainbow Creek Nutrient Reduction Management Plan!
