Mission RCD is pleased to announce the kick-off of our new Water Efficiency Technical Assistance Program funded by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Beginning in January of 2024, over the next two and a half years we will provide free irrigation efficiency analyses for farmers in our District, as well as those in TEAM RCD’s District in Southern Riverside County.

With funding from SANDAG, Mission RCD successfully in reduced and controlled several non-native, invasive plants in the Santa Margarita and San Luis Rey watersheds. Invasive weeds threaten the viability of watersheds by outcompeting native plants, rerouting and impeding water flow, and providing fuel for wildfires. Mission RCD and our partners removed invasive non-native plants and restored native riparian habitat to improve biodiversity and reduce flood and fire risk.

Mission RCD has supported MWDOC’s outdoor water rebate programs since 2017 with rebate installation verification and on-site field services for the SmartTimer Rebate Program, Turf Removal Rebate Program, Spray to Drip and Rotating Nozzle Rebate Program. These programs offer incentives to residential and commercial property owners for purchase and installation of weather-based and other water conservation devices for eligible customers in Orange County.
